Looking for a permanent, loving home...
The cats on this page are all being cared for in our foster homes around the Greater Portland area while they wait to be adopted. Many of these cats are recent mothers whose litters have all grown and been adopted and now they are looking for their forever homes; some weren't happy in the shelter environment and preferred a quieter place to spend their days; and others just needed attention and TLC. Cats in foster care are generally faster to adapt to their adopted home because they have been living in a home environment. All of these cats are healthy and awaiting your visit, so contact the shelter (207-829-4116; email: info@hartofme.com) to make an appointment or stop in to our open house on Wednesdays and Saturdays between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm. |
Charlene- Adult female
Charlene is a small (but full grown) kitty who is active and playful. She loves chasing toys around the house and tackling your feet in bed. She is very quiet (not vocal) and very rarely purrs. She is shy, and will approach you only on her own terms, when she feels comfortable with you. Even though she is shy, she does like to hang out near you, and keep an eye on what you are doing. She needs a quiet home without small children, and a patient owner. She gets along well with other cats.

Nala- Adult female
Pretty Nala is the sister Raja and both girls are Manx kitties. She is a soft gray tiger color and is two years old. This tiger girl is a rumpie Manx, i.e. no tail. Nala is very athletic and likes other cats and dogs. She is friendly and sweet,and is looking for her new home with her pretty sister, Raja.

Raja-Adult female
This beautiful calico Manx lady is the second of the Disney Princess sisters. She is also a rumpie Manx like her sister, Nala meaning she has no tail at all. She is also very athletic and loves to run and jump and play. Raja is two years old and gets along well with other cats and dogs too. Please consider this bonded pair of Manx ladies for your very own. They are delightful and will give you years of affection and joy.

Bentley- Adult male
Bentley spent last winter on the streets of Portland, and turned out to adore people once we got him inside and healed his wounds. This big handsome man has jowly cheeks and a very dense build. All black with just a few streaks of white on his chest & belly, Bentley will sit in your lap purring for hours. We've found he's very mild with other cats, though he might prefer a quiet situation.

Molly- Adult female
Molly has just been surrendered by her owner who became allergic. She has gone into foster care as life at the shelter is somewhat overwhelming for her. She is a bit on the older side, and does not handle change easily. She is being fostered by one of our kind volunteers who wanst to get her ready for adoption again. Molly has lived with another kitty and would do well in a home where she and perhaps one or two other kitties were doted upon and had plenty of sunny windows to relax in. Please inquire about this pretty tiger lady, and see for yourself what a nice lady she is! |
Sheba- Adult female
This stately kitty is our resident queen- Sheba. She was rescued from another shelter and put into foster care due to her age. This regal senior citizen is about 15- 16 years old and is a very pretty, sweet and smart rag doll Siamese. She is a talker too. Please give this nice kitty a comfy bed and a sunny window to enjoy her later years in a loving home. |
Mirabel and Pepper- Mommy and Young son
This mom and her 7 month old kitten are a bonded pair who is looking for their new home together. They are very sweet and affectionate, and would love to join your family! Mom is Mirabel on the left. She is all black and has soft anf fluffy medium length hair. She is barely over a year old herself. Her son, Pepper, is on the right, and he is also completely black, but has short fine glossy hair. He is a little imp and loves to play with sting and feather toys. His mom is a bit more refined and enjoys her catnip, but the two of them can certainly get going with a ball and chasing each other around looking for it! If you are considering adding two kitties to your family, please come to meet these two. After all, two are twice as much fun!

Jinxy- Adult male
This handsome Siamese boy is Jinxy. He is about four to five years old and was declawed on all four paws before he was rescued by HART. Jinxy will do best in a quieter home, perhaps as an only kitty. This Chocolate Point Siamese is friendly and LOVES to talk . Please come to meet him soon.
