Snuggles - Adult female
Snuggles was newly surrendered to our shelter by the son of a previous volunteer whose family could no longer care for her and her brother, Sly. Apparently she was not a very happy camper when a new baby arrived on the scene! Snuggles has gorgeous torti markings and striking gold eyes. She is 2 years old and is a friendly girl, and a very playful one too. She loves any toy you give her! Snuggles will be a bit shy at first, but she is one to warm up quickly. She is affectionate with her family, and loves to be pet. She arrived at the shelter with her buddy, Sly, a handsome gray tabby boy. They are very used to each other's companionship and like to sleep together and groom each other. These nice kitties would love to find their new home together... can't you find it in your heart to take two??

Prince Charles - Adult male
Prince Charles is a big orange tiger boy who is, maybe, 3 - 4 years old. He was found as a stray and brought to our shelter by our own Prince Charles (the animal control officer for Cumberland!). This kitty was NOT at all happy with being brought to the shelter, initially. He gave us a run for our money - not wanting any of the TLC showered upon him. But soon enough this big ole boy discovered that life where it is warm and safe, and where the food comes with no strings attached, was not so bad after all. Prince Charles is now living in a room with other kitties, interacting and happy. He is a big guy and will always have a bit of the "top dog" personality, but he is outgoing and friendly and loves to play. A kitty who has been a stray for a while may not do well in a home with a big dog, but otherwise this guy is set to join your family. Please call to meet our handsome Prince!

Nicky - Adult male
Nicky is a wonderfully outgoing and personable 5 year old orange and white guy with long hair. He came to us from a Maine vet because the elderly couple that owned him were now unable to care for him. He is a rambunctious guy - very playful and talkative but also independent and affectionate. His play can be a little rough, so he would not be a good choice for a family with very young children. Nicky also does not like to have his tail brushed or get his nails clipped, so watch out! Felicity Gordon- young female Felicity Gordon is an exquisite Siamese Balinese mix girl with beautiful pale blue eyes and gorgeous coloring that is so very striking. This kitty is very very special..having been brought to us due to unfortunate circumstances. Her owner became hospitalized and then passed away, and the poor kitty was left alone (unknowingly) in the home for over two weeks. She was very shy and very upset when she first came to us, but with the help of many loving volunteers, has come out of her shell and made much progress toward becoming the wonderful lap cat she was before. Felicity is an affectionate cat who loves to be pet and have her chin scratched. Her coat is a wonderful mix of cremes and gray and is just stunning.Felicity is used to being the only cat, and would do best in a quiet home. Smokey
- Senior male
Smokey is an older gray cat with lovely light green eyes. He has a very easy-going nature and seems quite content to snooze the day away with his best bud Sawyer. Smokey enjoys being pet and is very happy when he sees you come into the room. That said, he probably won't be following you all over the house but rather will wait till you come into the room where he is snoozing and then snuggle right up in your lap or on the chair next to yours content in knowing you are right there! Currently, Smokey lives in a room with some cats that are on the shy side so when you come to meet him you'll notice him right away. Just visit our Zoom Room and look for the gray guy who perks right up when he sees you enter … that is our wonderful little Smokey! |
Dash- young female
Dash is a very new arrival to the shelter, along with her sister, Bastet. These kitties are about 10 months old and were found as strays and taken in by some kind folks, who are now moving and cannot take them with them. These kitties are OK with kids, other kitties, but not dogs. We assume they are sisters and they would love to stay together if possible. Dash is friendly to all and a lap cat. Her past owners say she is independent and fearless, and very playful. She and Bastet sleep together and groom each other, and they are very sweet together! Dash loves to sleep on your bed at night right between you pillows. Please come to meet these sweet girls and make them your own!

Temple- Young male
Temple is a young orange and white kitten who is about 6 months old. he and his sister, Suki, were surrendered to the shelter just this first week in March. They were born outside and cared for by a man who finally surrendered them to us as he could not care for them. Temple is adorable with his white paws ans bib, and he is quiet, but playful. He is a bit timid in his new surroundings. We estimate he and his sister to be about 6 months old and so they are now in foster care to gain a bit more time to relax and fell safe and secure. Coffee - Adult female
Coffee is a great beige and black tabby girl who is ready for her forever home. She raised a litter of kittens last spring - 6 of them, as a matter of fact - and is helping to socialize another young group now. She gets along well with other kitties, though she definitely has a dominant personality and won't be pushed around, but she is not aggressive! Coffee is very affectionate and would snuggle close to her foster mom on the bed at night when she was in foster care. She purrs and plays and is really an all around nice girl. Sid - Adult male
Sid is a wonderful orange and white guy who is about 5 years old. He is very handsome and has huge double paws! Sid is a real sweetie...gets along with the other kitties in his room...who are all AIDS positive. This guy came to us from another shelter where he would have been euthanized because they are not equipped with a place where these kitties can live without exposing other cats to their disease. Sid has four roommates and is just as playful and active and happy as can be. We would love for him to find a real home to live in with another one of his friends from HART..or by himself. AIDS is very contagious to other kitties, but not to people. Please call to meet one of our special residents! |

Zoro- young male
Zoro is another nice young boy rescued from a barn in Lisbon. He is about 6 months old and is a friend to Scout. Zoro has adjusted quickly to life on the inside..playing and letting people handle him. He has a nice loud purr and is a very curious boy. Zoro likes to have his head scratched, and is anxious to meet some other kitties he lives next to in the room. He is reaching out to other crates to say hi. Angel- Young adult female
Angel is a young black kitty who was brought to the shelter last spring with her litter of kittens. She was a great momma, nurturing her babies until they were old enough to be adopted. Angel is a very timid girl who is not very comfortable around humans. She loves and has bonded with some of the other kitties she lives with, but is mostly scared. She would do well in a home with another young cat and lots of TLC and patience. Please open your heart to this special kitty. |

Sly is a really handsome gray tabby boy who is about 2 1/2 years old. He arrived at the shelter with his friend, Snuggles. Both were surrendered by their owners due to a new baby in the house. He is friendly and affectionate with his family, but a bit wary with new people. Sly has very nice striping and big green eyes. He loves to play and is a very good boy. Suki is a new arrival to HART with her brother, Temple. We estimate these kittens to be a bout 6 months old, and they are both a bit timid to find themselves in new surroundings. Suki is just as pretty as she can be with her long hair and pretty torti good looks. These kittens were born outside, and are still learning to trust and feel safe with humans. Stormy-Young female
Stormy is a recent arrival to the shelter and is still a bit nervous. She is sweet and gentle, but has been through a lot lately. She was abandoned by her owners and left on her own until a neighbor realized the situation. Stormy has a beautiful soft coat and pretty green eyes. Woodsie is a classic tabby girl who is about 2 1/2 years old. She is rather timid right now but this girl has a lot of love to give. Annabel - Adult female
Annabel is a classic orange tiger with white around her mouth and long white whiskers. She is extremely soft. She was a stray from New Gloucester that was abandoned by her owner, along with another cat. They both were brought to us by a neighbor. Annabel is very friendly and curious. She has a ton of personality and is not shy in the least. She is a bit of a talker as well. Please consider opening your heart and home to this deserving kitty!

Carmen - Adult female
Carmen is a wonderful calico girl who has just raised her litter of kittens and is now looking for her permanent home. She is a soft, short-haired girl with a very mellow temperment. She has very bold and striking markings on her coat. Carmen does not like dogs at all, so would do best in an environment without them. She has lived in a house with kids and lots of activity, and it only seems to be the dogs that she does not get along with. Carmen loves to be brushed and petted, and is still quite playful as she is not a very old kitty at all..close to a year the vet surmises. Please call to meet this pretty kitty. |
Princess II- Young female
Princess II is a very pretty long hair girl who came in with her sister, Sophie and. These girls are about 1 year old and just as nice as can be. They were surrendered by their owner since she had to move and are used to living with other cats and a dog. Princess II is playful and mellow and would make a nice pet for you! She is described as being very affectionate and a real lap cat! Please all to meet this pretty girl. |
Sophie- Young female
Sophie is a very new arrival to the shelter as an owner surrender with her sister, Princess II. These girls have very unusual markings and are about a year old. Sophie is black and white with a truly interesting face. She is a bit more reticent than her sister, but just as sweet as can be. She is used to to other cats and dogs, and would love to find a home with her beautiful sister, Princess. Sophie and Princess II sleep together and groom each other, and are very loving girls. Please think about whether you could offer these two sweeties a new home with you!

Calamity Jane - Adult female
Calamity Jane is a short hair black & white girl with an adorable white patch next to her nose and great long white whiskers. Her owner moved into a nursing home after being in the same home for her 7 years, and she is a little scared of her new surroundings. She is very active and friendly to family, although a little shy with visitors. She has not been around children and would do best in a very quiet home. She loves catnip. Moxie - Adult female
Moxie is a very nice young adult who was brought to the shelter by a caring soul
at the end of April when she was found wandering around outside their home. Moxie was VERY
pregnant and actually gave birth the next day. She has raised her little soda
pop kittens and they have all found their forever homes. She has even helped
to raise another abandoned litter of 5 who were discovered at less than a week old
without their mother. Moxie is a sweet and gentle lady with a lot of love to
give. She is only about a year and a half old and has a soft short hair coat
that is very silky. She gets along with other cats, and now that her mothering
days are over, she is learning to get along with the two dogs in her foster
home. She was very protective of her 8 kittens when they were learning the ropes
about dogs, but has now learned that they will do her no harm. Moxie loves to
be stroked and to have her chin scratched. She will sleep with you at night and will
snuggle close on the couch during the day . Moxie loves to play, and especially
loves a catnip mouse or a feather toy. This girl is an all around nice kitty.

Houdini - Adult male
Houdini is a middle aged kitty who was surrendered to us by his owner a couple of years ago, and just has not learned to adapt very well to shelter life. He hides and is very timid, although he was not this way for his owner. We would love for Houdini to find another very understanding human who will give him lots of TLC and patience to bring him back out to the cat we know he is. He has handsome good orange tabby markings with a white bib and nose, and cute little white paws. This sweet kitty will come over to you in the room when you go in, reach up for a head butt or pat, and then scurry away. He loves the other kitties, so perhaps his new home could have one or two others. Houdini will flourish with just the right touch in a quieter environment. Kashi- Young female
Kashi came to the shelter with her three 5 month old kittens after being found living outside in a shed. Kashi is slightly worried about her new living conditions, but is sweet and gentle. She has an adorable young face, and we estimate her to be a year and a half or so. Kashi's kittens are Abay, Temple, and Suki. They are also looking for their forever homes and are a bit more timid around people than their momma, but are making progress very day. Frosty - Young adult male
Frosty is a sweet talkative medium to long hair guy with beautiful white hair. He had been a stray in Yarmouth for over a year until a kind gentleman brought him to us. Frosty is very friendly and seems to like other cats, kids and dogs. This nice guy needs some love and TLC. You can tell that he has had a tough life on the streets with the scratches he still bears, but his coat is already starting to soften and shine and you can tell he is going to be a really handsome cat! Abaya- Young female
Abaya is a beautiful young torti girl brought to the shelter with her sister, Suki, brother, Temple, and momma, Kashi. This group was found living outside in a shed and rescued by a caring volunteer. They are still a bit wary of their new surroundings and still learning to trust our volunteers. They are gentle kitties, not mean at all. Abaya is about 5-6 months old is just the most pretty young torti with her medium length hair and gorgeous autumn colors! Please call to meet this nice young group of kitties. |
Puss N Boots - Young adult male Puss N Boots is a gray and white tuxedo male. He is around 2 years old and is FIV positive. He was a stray from Limerick. The people that found him really wanted to keep him but when he tested positive, they couldn't keep him because they have other cats. He has just arrived and is now in our AIDS room. This big boy is a handsome cat with long, gray hair and an adorable stripe down his nose. He is pretty friendly, but just a little scared still. Feline AIDS is a disease which can be passed to other kitties, but only through contact with body fluids which might occur with a puncture wound. It isn't passed in general everyday life, such as sharing food or water dishes, nor is it passed to humans. We would be happy to share more information with you if you are considering adopting one of our special kitties living in the AIDS room. Please call to meet this nice boy!

Pookie is an adorable long hair boy with a very cute little mark on his nose and classic tuxedo looks. He is gentle and quiet and would do best in a home without young children or dogs. He dislikes commotion and enjoys spending his days snoozing in the sun or snuggling on the couch with you. Pookie is very soft and loves to be groomed. Cleo is a very nice tiger girl who was brought in by her owner who could no longer care for her. She has the prettiest big green eyes and cute little orange nose! Cleo is young, about 18 months or so, and is described by her owner to be a lap cat. She is friendly and outgoing, but is not crazy about other cats. Shy Kitty - Senior male
Come meet our sweet, older Shy Kitty. He is one of the original founding fathers at the shelter, and came from New York where he was living on the streets. He was rescued by the person who first started HART, and has been with us for over 10 years. Shy Kitty is so named because he is. He always comes to greet you when you first come in the room where he lives, but still acts afraid and non-trusting. This handsome big boy is not hissy and would never attack, he is as meek as they come. This nice kitty would just love to find a comfy couch to snooze on, especially if it is in a sunny place! Shy Kitty enjoys your pets, and is very gentle. He just needs a patient human to show him some kindness. |
Bastet- Young female
Bastet, the name of a famous Egyptian cat goddess, came in with her sister, Dash, as owner surrenders. These girls are about 10 months old and are friendly and outgoing and lap kitties Bastet is active and playful, especially with other kitties. They are used to kids and dogs. Sweetness - Senior female
Sweetness was surrendered with another kitty who has since found a loving home, and now it is her turn! Sweetness is a big gray female kitty with some buff coloring. She enjoys mingling with the other cats in her room, and is very gentle. She prefers rubbing up against you and settling in beside you, rather than being held on your lap. Jasmine- Adult female
Jasmine is a very new arrival to the shelter who has just gorgeous coloring. Pi cures cannot due her justice....but her classic brown tabby good looks are enhanced by this almost reddish gold hue to her coat. She has very fine short hair and enormous green eyes...and a cute little orange nose! Jasmine has raised her 7 kittens, and has declared it is time for a break! She has just been spayed and is ready to have some attention showered on her for a change. She is a very personable kitty..outgoing and friendly to all. Fancy is a gorgeous dilute calico girl with short hair. She is waiting for just the right person to come along who is patient and loving. Fancy is about 10 months old now and is still waiting for her home. She is gentle and sweet, and has become so acclimated that her foster mom describes her as a purr machine. She has made great progress in her foster home, and will do best with a family who understands she needs some time to adjust and get used to a new situation in a quiet environment. Haley is a 6 year old kitty who was discovered living in a barn a year ago, and brought to our shelter. She has come a very long way, and actually bonded with one of our other kitties, Birdie, in the room where she lives. She is very cute with her torti good looks and a stripe of white on her nose! Haley would love to finds a nice quiet home where she can blossom into the loving cat she shows promise of. Of course it would be ideal for her friend, Birdie, to go along, but not imperative. Clarabelle- Adult female
Clarabelle is a very beautiful and gentle 5 year old Maine Coon kitty who is looking for her forever home. She is declawed and has a very mild manner..sweet and affectionate. Dusty 2- Senior female
Dusty is a delightful 12 year old lady who was surrendered by her owner because she would wake her up at night to play!@ Dusty is friendly and coy....wanting to show off and roll over to capture your attention. Dusty is a tad on the plump side and could use a younger companion to play with...either human or feline. She would like a quieter home still, but really needs to have some time spent with her to exercise and play. Dusty enjoys having her long hair brushed and is a very gentle and loving girl. Blaze- Adult male
Blaze is another one of our new orange kitties to find their way to our shelter as a stray. This nice boy is about two years old and was a stray in Yarmouth. He has orange medium length hair which is soft and fluffy, and long white whiskers. This boy was noted for a few days by some caring people and trey tried to bring him into their home, but he seemed quite fearful of their dog. Blaze seems just a bit worried about his new home, but is friendly and enjoys your pets and attention. Blaze also loves a catnip mouse and will play with a feather toy for hours. Linnie- Adult female
Linnie is a very very sweet and gentle girl who came to us with only one eye. She is soft and silky with classic tabby good looks and one big green eye. Linnie has no problem getting around and does just fine with only one eye. She is playful and affectionate....and just deserves a chance to find a loving home. Cruz- Young male
Cruz is a sweet young boy with a handsome tuxedo look to him. He is about 7 months old now and still just a little timid. He has come a long way with his social skills due to his loving foster mom, and surrogate sister, Emily to help him along. He would make a wonderful companion for another pet. Cruz was found in a Manx colony , but does have a tail..He is very affectionate with other cats and young kittens. Cruz has accepted new arrivals to his foster home quickly and is very playful. He has overcome most of his shyness. He will follow you and come up to rub against you when cleaning his litter and choosing his food. He will let you pick him up much more often; and will purr while holding him. Cruz is gaining ground each week on his social skills. His foster mom says she is looking for him to learn to be into her lap very soon. He would still would need TLC from his adoptive family until he feels completely comfortable. Tessa - Adult female
Tessa is a short-haired orange and white kitty who is finally relaxing at the shelter. She is about 7 years old and is quiet and affectionate. Tessa came in with Cocoa due to their owner's illness, but they do not have to stay together. Tessa is shy with people and needs a quiet home without children. Mittens III - Adult female
Here is another of our wonderful cats with the same name! Mittens III is a new arrival. She was a stray brought to the shelter with her kittens in the early fall. They have all found their new homes, and now it is time for momma. This beautiful torti girl has a white bib and paws. Her former foster mom describes her as one of the sweetest most loving cats she has ever had. Mittens gets along with other kitties, and is so laid back that dogs would be fine, too. She has big yellow eyes that follow you around, and they don't miss a trick. She is playful and affectionate - everything you could want in a cat. Please call to give this young girl her new home!

Sebastian - Adult male
Sebastian is a short-hairer, black and white male. He and his sister, Olivia, came to the shelter together from a woman who is losing her apartment and is going to be homeless.......... She cried the whole time our volunteer was there to pick them up. We'd like to keep them together if possible........... He is described as being talkative, friendly, a clown, likes to play, easy going, friendly, likes to cuddle. He has not been around kids much, but would let kids pet him. He plays with Olivia and they groom each other. He is 4 1/2 years old and has adorable white marks down his nose. Please call us to meet this nice boy and his sister, Olivia. |
Olivia - Adult female
Olivia is a pretty torti girl with a white chest. She is sister to Sebastian, and is also 4 1/2 years old. She is described as being quiet, shy to family and visitors. She will take a while to warm up to new people. She avoids children and loud dogs. Olivia probably needs a stress-free, quiet environment. She also needs a very clean litter box, as she is quite fastidious! We would like for Olivia and Sebastian to stay together, as they are devoted to each other and it is so hard for them to be away from their human and in the shelter environment.
