Looking for a permanent, loving home...
The cats on this page are all being cared for in our foster homes around the Greater Portland area while they wait to be adopted. Many of these cats are recent mothers whose litters have all grown and been adopted and now they are looking for their forever homes; some weren't happy in the shelter environment and preferred a quieter place to spend their days; and others just needed attention and TLC. Cats in foster care are generally faster to adapt to their adopted home because they have been living in a home environment. Charlene- Adult female
Charlene is a small (but full grown) kitty who is active and playful. She loves chasing toys around the house and tackling your feet in bed. She is very quiet (not vocal) and very rarely purrs. She is shy, and will approach you only on her own terms, when she feels comfortable with you. Even though she is shy, she does like to hang out near you, and keep an eye on what you are doing. She needs a quiet home without small children, and a patient owner. She gets along well with other cats.

Nala- Adult female
Pretty Nala is the sister Raja and both girls are Manx kitties. She is a soft gray tiger color and is two years old. This tiger girl is a rumpie Manx, i.e. no tail. Nala is very athletic and likes other cats and dogs. She is friendly and sweet,and is looking for her new home with her pretty sister, Raja.

Raja-Adult female
This beautiful calico Manx lady is the second of the Disney Princess sisters. She is also a rumpie Manx like her sister, Nala meaning she has no tail at all. She is also very athletic and loves to run and jump and play. Raja is two years old and gets along well with other cats and dogs too. Please consider this bonded pair of Manx ladies for your very own. They are delightful and will give you years of affection and joy.

Shell - Young male
Shell is another 6 ½ month old guy who is all black. He has double paws and a very fine silky fur coat. Shell loves to hide under the covers and play peek-a-boo. He is a just a bit reserved, but has come out of his shell so to speak very well. He loves other cats and is used to a dog as well. Shell and his brother, Citgo were stranded in an oil drum in an industrial park until they were rescued by a kind volunteer. These boys are playful and enjoy being around other kitties, but are not real affectionate or lap cats at this point.

Citgo- Young male
This handsome guy is about 6-7 months old now and is looking for his new home now! He and his brother, Shell, were found huddled and scared in the bottom of an oil drum this fall. Citgo is all gray and has a sleek and glossy coat. He also has double paws, and is a real funny boy. He is used to other kitties and a dog in his foster home. Citgo would make a great companion kitty, but is not terribly cuddly and affectionate to his humans,. As his foster mom says" He tolerates us!" It would be OK if Citgo goes to his new home on his own- he doesn't have to go with his brother.

Bentley- Adult male
Bentley spent last winter on the streets of Portland, and turned out to adore people once we got him inside and healed his wounds. This big handsome man has jowly cheeks and a very dense build. All black with just a few streaks of white on his chest & belly, Bentley will sit in your lap purring for hours. We've found he's very mild with other cats, though he might prefer a quiet situation.

Sasha- Baby female
This petite little girl is Sasha!, a twelve week old kitten. She's loves to instigate rough and tumble play with her toys. She is a purr ball--she purrs when she's happy; she purrs when she's nervous. She loves every cat toy imaginable, and when she tuckers out from play, she likes to snuggle. Sasha has long-hair, mostly black with distinct white markings that add to her playful personality. She's a good eater and quite active. She is definitely more confident and social around adults/teenagers, and she has enjoyed meeting and playing with other cats in her foster home.

Brooke- Adult female
This pretty tiger lady with white accents is a wonderful and gentle companion kitty sure to bring you hours of love and affection. Brooke was found as a stray on the streets of Northern Maine, and brought to HART because she was thought to be pregnant. That did not turn out to be true, so she has recently been spayed and is now ready for her new home. Brooke has a very sweet temperament. She is gentle and completely non aggressive. When she first came to us she was put into a foster home to prepare for the birth of her babies, and she walked right into the home filled with other adult cats and two large dogs without the blink of an eye. Brooke is very easy going and enjoys whatever attention you shower on her. You can just tell by the way she acts that she is grateful to be warm and cared for inside a home. She loves to play and is particularly fascinated with spring toys which she carries around in her mouth. She had a few teeth removed at the time of her spay, and the vet estimates her to be about 4 years old. Please come to meet this delightful kitty soon.

Confetti- Baby female
This little cutie pie is Confetti- a pretty gray and white tiger kitten who is about 13 weeks old. She was found as a stray in a garage, but had to be raised in a home as she is very loving and affectionate. Confetti is svelte and wiry- and very agile! She loves to scamper all over the house, fining nooks and crannies to explore and enjoys all different kinds of toys. Confetti is confident and outgoing, but also enjoys a lap to snuggle on when she is tired. She will be spayed this coming week and ready for her new home by the 11th- just in time for Valentine's Day. She is used to other cats in her foster home and has lived with dogs and is not afraid of them at all!

Strawberry Shortcake- Baby female
This baby girl is the last in a litter of five of babies to find her new home.. Strawberry Shortcake is aboutt 10-11 weeks old, but a tiny girl for her age! She is nearly all black with just a patch of white on her chest. She is fun loving and playful and a little sweetie for sure. Strawberry Shortcake would love to find a home where she will have another kitty to be her big sister or brother. She will also be ready in time for Valentine's Day!
