Sponsoring a HART cat is a great opportunity to support the shelter and have a direct impact on the lives of our residents who live at the shelter while they await adoption. Meet the HART cats you can currently sponsor…

ALVIN is a charming, long-haired, brown tabby who came to HART in the Spring of 2023 when his guardians unfortunately could no longer provide care for him. Riding on your shoulder is a favorite past time for this handsome boy. He like high perches to observe his surroundings or to view out of a window. Alvin may be selective about his feline friends, but he sure does loves all people.

BLACKBEARD is a handsome, FIV-positive guy who came to HART from our animal rescue partners in Pennsylvania. He has the big puffy cheeks of a formerly intact male cat, and impressively long whiskers!  Blackbeard is a very confident cat with a cool and calm attitude. His favorite part of having human friends is their shoes! He just can’t get enough of them. Blackbeard can be found right at your feet rubbing his head across the top of your sneakers. If he wants you to stick around, he may give you a playful swipe if you try to walk away. Sponsor Blackbeard: one-time | monthly | annually

CRUSH is a very handsome and active, diabetic cat who transferred to HART from a rescue in MA. When he arrived at HART, he had some medical hurdles to overcome, including having his eye removed due to a tumor (melanoma). Missing his eye does not slow him down at all. Friendly and social, this orange tabby boy loves getting attention from everyone. We consider him to be a cat with no sense of personal space—he often just pushes himself into the middle of whatever is happening in his vicinity! In 2023 Crush entered our foster program where he is enjoying his humans 24/7.

DEWEY A sweet and handsome senior ginger boy that loves affection and would like nothing more than to be your best bud. Lover of treats and string toys, he is sure to melt your heart. Dewey can often be found hanging out on the bench in his room. Sometimes you can find the other cats in his room sitting with him, he has made huge strides in accepting of his roommates. But more than anything, would love a home of his own where he can be king of the castle. Sponsor Dewey: one-time | monthly | annually | senior

JACK is a very handsome and charming senior boy who is a volunteer favorite. He was surrendered to HART since his previous owner could not offer the care he needed. Jack started out at HART very confused and defensive. After being here for about a week or two, he really started to trust the new people in his life. He has an independent and courageous spirit that will surely win you over. He enjoys being petted, brushed, and held and will start purring almost immediately. He loves being spoiled the most.

JAG is an easy going, all black, short-haired male that loves to relax. Prior to arriving at HART he had lived quite the life, we believe he had been a stray for at least a year. Jag is currently on a special diet for allergies, and a medication for asthma. Jag is a very sweet guy, and although he doesn’t outwardly look for attention, he sure does love it. He’s at his happiest when lounging on a bench or on a cat tree receiving belly rubs and being told how handsome he is.

JAYDEN a tiger with large green eyes, can be at times the sweetest cat, offering kisses and accepting of head pets but, will quickly let you know when enough is enough. Jayden came to HART during the winter of 2022. We don’t know much about Jayden’s past life, but she came in very under-socialized and fearful of people. She still tends to be more comfortable with the company of other cats rather than humans, but she has made great progress, thanks to Our Shy Angels Team who have been working with her to build her confidence and trust in people. JOLENE is a pretty and silly tortie girl who arrived from our rescue partner in Corinna, Maine. Active and agile, she often can be found perched up on high shelves or in the window of her room. Jolene is a bit shy to start, but with some patience, you will see her loving and playful side emerge! She will let you pet her and if you offer her a dangle toy you’lll witness her aerobic abilities - she’s impressive!

LILO  is a beautiful, fun, and feisty, kitty with special needs. Sleek and black with big, round, amber eyes, Lilo suffered an unknown trauma as a kitten that required her tail to be amputated. She was left incontinent (unable to urinate on own) but otherwise unfazed, she does require manual expressing of her bladder twice daily. Playful, inquisitive, and super-affectionate, she loves attention from people and is happy to make friends with other cats. She loves to purr, give you head-butts, knead soft things, and receive lots of body rubs.

MAGGIE What a beautiful cat to look at! And that is truly what she likes best, to be admired from a distance. Maggie is shy and very cautious around people. She is not aggressive, but if she feels frightened, she will run away. Maggie gets along well with the other cats in her room and is deeply bonded with Snickers and Oleander. Maggie has been on the Shy Angel Program for several years and even though she is still on the shy side she has made tremendous progress. For playtime, Maggie enjoys playing with the laser pointer or curling up with her besties.

MALIBU is a very snuggly tortoiseshell girl. Prior to HART, she had a home for many years and although she is not a huge fan of a room full of cats, she has adapted. She lets it be known to all that she does crave love, attention and petting.  If you stop petting her she may tap you gently with a paw, or perhaps a nip, asking you to continue.  She is lap cat and has lots of love to give. Malibu has significant arthritis of her elbows and is also hyperthyroid which both are managed easily with medications. Malibu is a delight!.

MYRTLE is a smaller girl with beautiful grey and white markings and captivating eyes. She came to us from our rescue partners in Pennsylvania.  A very friendly kitty, Myrtle will be the first one to greet you in her room. She loves scratches, plenty of attention, and being held. Myrtle adores being held, and if you’re not looking, she will jump on your shoulders (sometimes surprising unsuspecting volunteers) and demand to be carried around like the little queen she is. Sponsor Myrtle: one-time | monthly | annually | senior

OLEANDER  is a beautiful, senior kitty whose bright white fur, darling face, and polydactyl front paws really make her stand out from the crowd. Our patient Shy Angels Program volunteers have worked hard to gain her trust, and although she would prefer that humans keep their distance, around volunteers she knows well she will reveal the playful side of her personality and even allow gentle pets in exchange for treats. She gets along with her feline roommates, and is tightly bonded with Snickers and Maggie.

OSCAR is a very handsome light brown diabetic tabby with warm highlights in his super soft and sleek fur. Oscar was very stressed when he first arrived at HART, and while initially he was not a fan of shelter life and kept to himself, he has learned to go with the flow and has blossomed into quite the social butterfly. Oscar is always on the go, and is very chatty. He enjoys being held but is favorite activity is trying to escape his room so he can enter the much-desired hallway at HART.

SNICKERS is a very handsome senior Tuxedo cat who is reserved around people. A part of our Shy Angels Program, Snickers is a sweet kitty, not at all aggressive. He can often be found snuggled up with his two best friends, Oleander and Maggie, with whom he is very closely bonded. Once you gain his trust he will take treats out of your hand. Snickers loves to play with springs and jingle balls and at times will talk to you with his tiny meow. Sponsor Snickers: one-time | monthly | annually | senior

SPECK is a stunning, long-haired cat with bright green eyes who arrived at HART in the Fall of 2021. She enjoys spending time with people, and while she has a somewhat reserved, subtle personality, she likes gentle attention and receiving scratches and pets. Speck has significant environmental and flea allergies which are well-managed by feeding her a special, non-prescription, limited ingredient diet (duck is the primary ingredient), and daily medication and supplements.

STORK is a lovely short-haired calico who came to us from our rescue partners in Pennsylvania. Social and playful, she loves getting attention from people. When she first arrived, Stork tended to have episodes of wobbling and falling over, followed by intense ear-scratching, due to severe food allergies. She improved with treatment but it was determined that her best chance of comfort would require surgery to remove her ear canals. Since then, it has been a tremendous improvement for this sweet girl.

TOBY is a handsome, black and white male cat with a broad white stripe on his face, a white muzzle, a pink nose, and a stub tail (no touching!). This big fellow came to HART in the Fall of 2022 from a rescue partner in Pennsylvania. Toby is a greeter and always interested in introducing himself by rubbing against your leg and requesting pets. He tends to keep to himself but has a playful side that emerges when a jingle ball crosses his path.
