Making It a Happy Holiday for the Cats of HART!
As the year quickly draws to a close, we want to thank everyone who has donated to our Year End Fundraiser thus far - we are truly heartened by your generosity. As of the writing of this letter, we have raised close to $40,000 of our very ambitious $75,000 goal, and we hope we can count on your support to get us there.
One reason we need to raise so much this year is the marked increase in surrenders of cats that come to HART in need of life-saving medical attention.
With the rising costs associated with caring for pets, people are finding it difficult to care for their beloved felines. It’s not only the cost of basic supplies like food and litter that has become a financial burden, but also the cost of routine veterinary care and medical treatments, which may go unaddressed due to the economic pressures people within our community are facing. When people surrender their cat to HART, many times it is at the point when the cat requires complex medical care. As you know, HART will do everything possible to provide cats with the care they need to survive. Just as individuals have seen the costs of caring for their pets increase, we have seen a significant rise in our expenses, too. With the increase in surrender requests and HART’s limited space and resources, we are at the point of having to turn some surrenders away. The money raised during our Year End Fundraiser will alleviate some of this financial burden and help HART continue to do the excellent work of helping people within the community see that their surrendered cat can survive, thrive, and be ready for adoption into their new home.
